Ten years.

It is difficult to write those words without feeling something stir within me.

When Fort & Manlé began, it was never born from certainty. It was born from admiration. Admiration for the great masters who dedicated their lives to perfumery and left behind works that continue to inspire generations. Like many who fell in love with perfume, I dreamed of one day creating fragrances that could stand proudly beside those masterpieces.

Yet admiration often walks hand in hand with doubt.

For many years, I carried a quiet fear. A fear that my work would feel unfinished, unrefined, lacking the elegance and polish that distinguish true perfumery from mere fragrance making. Because of this, I became my own harshest critic. Every perfume was measured not against the work of my peers, but against the creations of those I considered giants.

Their bottles sat beside mine.

Their compositions were studied, worn, admired and revisited endlessly.

Not so that I could imitate them, but so that I could understand what made them timeless.

Throughout this journey, traces of those inspirations inevitably found their way into my work. Some of the names themselves quietly reveal the story. Amber Absolutely was a respectful nod to the extraordinary work of Christopher Laudamiel. Certain orientals carried whispers of the magnificent worlds created by Christopher Sheldrake for Serge Lutens. The sense of travel and atmosphere found within the Jardin series by Jean-Claude Ellena for Hermès left an indelible mark on how I viewed perfume as storytelling.

Even Under Which Rivers Flow and Kolonya were, in many ways, love letters to a bygone era. Perfumes created not for trends, but for beauty. Not for attention, but for legacy.

And perhaps that is what these ten years have truly been about.

A pursuit.

A pursuit of beauty.

A pursuit of mastery.

A pursuit of creating perfumes that feel as though they belong to something greater than the moment in which they were made.

Portrait of a Ladybird was created to commemorate that journey.

The ladybird has long fascinated me. Small and delicate, yet remarkably resilient. It lands softly upon flowers, moving quietly through gardens, unnoticed by many, yet bringing beauty wherever it appears. In many ways, I see a reflection of Fort & Manlé within it.

Never the largest house.

Never the loudest voice.

Simply a small independent perfumery devoted to craftsmanship, moving from flower to flower, gathering the finest materials the world has to offer and transforming them into something meaningful.

For ten years, Fort & Manlé has remained committed to creating perfumes without compromise. Compositions built from exceptional materials, often in quantities and qualities that many larger luxury houses simply cannot justify. Not because it is the easiest path, but because it is the right one.

Portrait of a Ladybird stands as a celebration of that philosophy.

It is a portrait not only of a ladybird, but of a decade of dreams, sacrifices, failures, lessons, triumphs and unwavering dedication.

It is a portrait of a young perfumer who spent years studying the masters, searching for his own voice amongst their shadows.

It is a portrait of the countless customers, collectors and friends who believed in Fort & Manlé long before the world knew its name.

Most importantly, it is a portrait of gratitude.

Only 300 bottles will ever be produced.

Three hundred small reminders of a journey that began with admiration and slowly became something of its own.

Long after these bottles have found their homes, I hope they remain as a marker of this moment in time. A reminder that great things are rarely built overnight. They are built patiently, quietly, year after year, with devotion, perseverance and love.

Ten years have passed.

The journey continues.

And for that, I am profoundly grateful.
