Travelling always brings about metamorphosis. By taking distance from what is familiar, our eyes are opened. When we break with the habitual, our senses are awakened. The retina absorbs unusual colours. The nose maps out each new olfactory scent and the heart beat accelerates. Histoire d’Orangers by L’Artisan Parfumeur is a tribute to a memory. This is that of the perfumer Marie Salamagne travelling in the valley of Souss, at the foothills of the Anti-Atlas, between Tazenaght and Taroudant in Morocco. It is an adventure that had a lasting impact from which she returned a changed person.
