Tom Daxon - London
Tom Daxon grew up in fragrant surroundings. His mother, a chemist working in cosmetics for over 30 years would often give him new shower gels to try, fragrances to sniff. Often too he would travel down to Grasse when his mother met with one of her perfumeurs, Jacques. He remembers walking around his perfume lab, all gleming tiles and rows of bottles, each holding different ingredients of incredible strength.
At Tom Daxon they simply want to make the best fragrances possible. Cost and time are never considered. In Jaques and Carla Chabert he has a father and daughter perfumery team he has known since he was four. They are talented, experienced (working for Chanel, Guerlain and L'Oreal between them) and, most unusually, working independently of the larger fragrance companies. This means they manage the buying of all raw materials themselves, testing each batch to ensure their quality cannot be bettered.
Tom briefs Jacques and Carla according to what type of new fragrance he would like to create. Inspiration can be anything but is often ingredient led. No focus groups or marketing plans are consulted, fragrances are developed solely according to Tom's personal preference. This process can take months or it can take years.
Once a fragrance is chosen it is tested extensively to ensure the best strength. Currently the range contains between 14 - 16% fragrance essence. The oils are blended in Grasse, France and then macerated and matured in England for at least 6 weeks before they are bottled. This is cruicial because it allows a greater depth of aroma to be expressed, especially from natural ingredients the are used in abundance.
We hope the results are fragrances that bring joy and inspire an emotional attachment - something to truly treasure.
